Deanna Farrell, the daughter of first generation Italian Americans, is a married mother of five successful children. She grew up a small Pennsylvania town of Swoyersville.
Her education was completed at the Luzerne Clounty Community College. Subseqently, she worked for thirty-five years as a real estate broker, and won two terms as a school director.
Despite working as a correspondent for the local paper, she has never published any of the many stories she has written.
She based this story of Mishko and the Machine on a local neighborhood character. The multi-ethnic neighborhood she lived in was alive with many cultural customs. Her writing reflects the indelible impression they had on her.
